David Bryen's highest priority for his clients is that they feel deeply supported. His fiercely tender inquiry puts clients in deeper connection with who they are at their core, helping them discover the places where their true life has been compromised. In relationship counseling, he is very attentive to the soul of the individuals as well as the soul of the marriage. He quickly grasps the deeper dynamics of the relationship, and has developed powerful tools to disengage the escalating conflict patterns that characterize relationships that have grown sour. He is flexible in his approach and penetrating with his questions, allowing time and space for the therapy process to blossom.
In the spiritual realm, he helps individuals dive deeper into the nature of their being and connect to meaning and purpose in life. He is particularly discerning and helpful when a religious system has damaged self image and taken one's sense of authority away. In all aspects of his counseling, David is a master at dissolving shame and fear.
He has been in private practice since 1974, providing individual and marital therapy, teaching, lecturing, leading workshops, and facilitating retreats. He consults with business owners on personal and policy matters, providing a place to wrestle with the ethical issues posed by modern business and how to bring the integrity of the soul forward. Through his seminars and workshops, he has brought diverse groups of individuals together and created an atmosphere of safety to make vulnerability possible.
He has published The Man Loves the Wine She Serves Through Her Body: An erotic encounter with the Divine Feminine, www.davidbryen.com and produces a bi monthly newsletter Soundbites from the Stillpoint. She provided professional insight to the problems we were facing, guided us through our processes by allowing equal input, and offered unbiased opinion when called for. Her warm, caring, and accepting nature provided a safe environment to us, and her sensitivity allowed us to address some very deep issues.
